Elektrik Devreleri I dersi için hazırlanan birinci kısım ise, temel kavramlar ve devre elemanları, doğru akım devreleri ile ilgilidir.Alternatif (sinüsoidal) akım elektrik sistemlerinde çok önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Çünkü elektrik santrallerindeki generatörlerde üretilen ve enerji nakil hatlarıyla şehir merkezlerine getirilen gerilimin şekli sinüsoidaldir. Alternatif gerilim günlük hayatımızda her yerde mevcut olduğundan ve bütün sistemler bu gerilim şekline göre tasarlandığından, elektrik mühendisliği eğitimi alan öğrencilerin alternatif akıma ilişkin uygulamaları çok iyi bilmesi gerekmektedir.Bu amaçla kitapta; alternatif akıma ilişkin temel kavramlar, devre elemanlarının alternatif akımdaki davranışları, alternatif akıma ilişkin uygulamalar (güç ve güç katsayısının düzeltilmesi, rezonans ve filtre devreleri, manyetik bağlı devreler -transformatörler-, çok fazlı sistemler vb.) ve alternatif akım devrelerinin çözüm yöntemleri verilmiştir. Ayrıca gerekli matematiksel alt yapının sağlanması amacıyla, son bölüm alternatif akım devrelerinin sürekli haldeki çözümlerinin yapılmasında kullanılan karmaşık sayılara ayrılmıştır.Kısım I adlı çalışmada olduğu gibi bu kitapta da, hem gerekli teoriler hem de konuların daha iyi anlaşılabilmesi için çok sayıda çözümlü örnek ve cevabı olan alıştırmalar verilmiştir.
