Spirituality Editorial Review
The Three Pillars of Zen: Teaching, Practice, and Enlightenment offers a profound exploration of Zen practices focusing on meditation (zazen), commentary (teisho), and personal guidance (dokusan). This book, crafted by an American Zen Buddhist teacher, stands out by presenting real-life experiences and insights into the essence of Zen, rather than just the philosophical aspects. Reviewers highlight its unique stories of enlightenment and practical instruction for lay practitioners, which are not commonly found in traditional texts. It effectively demystifies the practice and provides clarity on how Zen is taught, making it a valuable resource for those curious about the practice. However, some readers have pointed out minor discrepancies regarding the author's role in traditional Zen lineage.
