Reference Editorial Review

The book is a bit dense, but I can usually make sense out of it. My biggest gripe is that the index is full of mistakes and omissions. For example, there is an eight-page section on noise reduction starting on p. 290, but it's not listed in the index. Pretty bad Photoshop book. If you're a nerd, you might appreciate this sententious, lugubrious exposition of all the ins-and-outs of different versions of Photoshop. But to learn how to work your photography best, get the Kelly book instead. Had to have it for school but never used it!! Waste of money on my part! Dislike the book as much as I mislike the software. I'm currently taking a photoshop class and this textbook is required so we have something to refer to when we get lost. This text has the latest techniques and is written in an easy to understand manner. I don't feel this book is for an expert, nor for a beginner. I feel 80% of the book was actually dedicated to describe how the interface and commands work, and what they do, where to click, etc. I don't feel it actually teaches Photoshop but just the interface, (like reading a manual, and user guide) at least in the majority of the book. Another thing is that a great deal of the book is dedicated to 'non actually Photoshop', that is I mean; Camera Raw, Bridge Interface, Photoshop Interface, Sharpening (RAW), Output, Automating Photoshop. and the like. Only a remaining percentage is actually about Photoshop Program itself. This was not useful for me, it may be useful for other people if they don't have yet much knowledge on this, but will need to combine with another book to actually delve into learning Photoshop.
