Nutritionist's Take
Potassium Hydroxide Flakes, commonly known as caustic potash, are primarily used in industrial applications, including soap making and as a fertilizer, rather than for direct human consumption. While potassium is an essential mineral that supports various bodily functions, including muscle and nerve function, the flakes themselves are caustic and can be harmful if ingested. They do not provide nutritional benefits in the context of a diet and are not suited for dietary needs. Nutritionists caution against using any form of caustic potash as a food additive due to its corrosive nature, which may cause gastrointestinal damage and other health risks. Therefore, while potassium itself is necessary for health, the flakes are not a healthy choice for consuming or supplementing within a balanced diet.
