SHIMANO Cassettes & Freewheels Editorial Review

The SHIMANO Deore 11-Speed Bicycle Cassette - CS-M5100-11-42 - ICSM510011142 is a highly recommended product that offers excellent quality and crisp shifting. It can be used interchangeably with both SRAM and Shimano cassettes in an 11-speed system. The cassette is compatible with a 1x11 drivetrain, but the tooth count should be checked to ensure the correct cassette is chosen (11-42 for 42 teeth and 11-51 for 51 teeth). It can fit a 135mm hub and works well with a Shimano Di2 electronic MTB derailleur, but an extended cage may be necessary for certain setups. However, it is not compatible with the Shimano XT RD-M8100 12s derailleur, as it is an 11-speed cassette. Customer Reception: - The product received positive reviews for its quality and performance, with customers praising its crisp shifting. - Some customers mentioned that the cassette fit perfectly and was easy to install. - One customer specifically mentioned using the cassette to quickly change between rims and tires. - However, one reviewer received a repackaged item that was missing one of the critical spacers, rendering it non-functional. - Another customer had a similar issue with a missing spacer and faced difficulties in contacting the seller for a resolution without returning the entire cassette. - The product was described as solid and reliable, with the slight drawback of being slightly heavier due to its steel Construction.
