Now they’re heading to the School Ship Tobermory. This is no ordinary school—it’s a sailing ship where kids from around the world train to be sailors and learn about all things nautical. Come aboard as the kids set sail for their first adventure.Ben and Fee make friends as they adjust to life aboard the Tobermory. When a film crew arrives on a nearby ship, the Albatross, Ben is one of the lucky kids chosen as a movie extra. But after a day’s filming, his suspicions are aroused. Are the director and crew really shooting a film? Or are they protecting a secret on the lower decks of the Albatross? Ben, Fee, and their friends set out to investigate. Are they prepared for what they might find?

Boats & Ships Editorial Review
**Editorial Review of "School Ship Tobermory"** "School Ship Tobermory" by Alexander McCall Smith is a whimsical and adventurous nautical tale that captures the imaginations of readers both young and old. The story revolves around 12-year-old protagonists who embark on a thrilling journey aboard a sailing school ship, setting the stage for a blend of camaraderie, conflict, and excitement. Many readers appreciate the swift pace of the plot, with engaging incidents such as a fall from the rigging and encounters with a movie crew, which keep the narrative lively and entertaining. However, while the book is celebrated for its adventurous spirit and ability to draw in younger audiences, it has received criticism for its characterization and some inConsistencies in the plot. Readers note that the character development appears lacking, with many descriptions of the characters being somewhat two-dimensional. The portrayal of the ship and sailing logistics is also a point of contention, with some readers pointing out inaccuracies that detract from the authenticity of the sailing experience. Despite these flaws, the book remains enjoyable for its light-hearted adventure and simplicity, especially appealing to younger readers or those new to McCall Smith's writing. Parents and grandparents have found it a fun read to introduce younger audiences to the joys of nautical adventures, even if some aspects may not resonate as profoundly with older readers. Overall, "School Ship Tobermory" is positioned as a delightful read for children, offering enough excitement to bridge gaps in character depth and realism. **
