    Answer: Yes, our Artichoke products are cooked. After the outer leaves have been removed the artichoke hearts are then boiled.
  • Question: What is the source of the citric acid? Is it organic or non-GMO?

    Answer: The citric acid in our Native Forest® Artichoke products is derived from Non-GMO corn. Our company policy prohibits the use of genetically modified ingredients.
  • Question: What kind of salt do you use? I prefer sea salt or Himalayan.

    Answer: The vendor did not provide this information, but the Real Salt brand is recommended. Unless a recipe calls for coarse salt- say a focaccia, (then I prefer a corse sea salt); I will always use https://realsalt.com/mine/ The salt profile really compliments the food highlighting and bringing flavors together in a way other salts cannot. If you haven’t tried it- it’s definitely worth a test, not to mention the health benefits.
  • Question: I have the artichoke hearts in a glass jar and they have been unopened in the cabinet for a long time. How long are they good for?

    Answer: The vendor mentions that they purchased cans, not jarred products, and that both should have an expiry date. That’s all the information available.
  • Question: Should I put this in the refrigerator?

    Answer: An unopened can does not need to be refrigerated. Any leftover portion should be refrigerated and used within 4 days.
  • Question: Are these organic? The title says organic but the can is not showing it.

    Answer: The Artichoke products are not organic, but they are Non-GMO Project verified.
  • Question: What pesticides are used in growing these artichokes?

    Answer: The producer of our Artichokes is certified under the SYSCO Sustainable Integrated Pest Management Program. Integrated Pest Management promotes the protection of environmentally sensitive growing areas, soil and water conservation, as well as the prudent management of crop pests and herbicide use. The goal of this program is the use of environmentally friendly pesticides, only as necessary.
  • Question: Oh yay excess sodium! How is this good? Stop feeding the salt addiction. How is this “conscientious”?

    Answer: The excess salt can be removed by rinsing in cold water, draining well, and drying in a kitchen cloth. Like most canned items, salt and citric acid are used to preserve the food.
