Customer Questions & Answers
-
Question:
What is a Guitarron and how is it different from a regular guitar?
Answer: A Guitarron is a large, six-stringed instrument typically used in Mexican mariachi music, distinguished by its deep body and powerful sound. Unlike a regular guitar, which is usually smaller and has a different tonal range, the Guitarron features a more resonant bass and is played primarily for rhythm and support. This unique construction allows the Guitarron to keep up with brass instruments in a mariachi ensemble, making it an essential instrument for that genre. -
Question:
Is the LGTN2 model suitable for beginners?
Answer: Yes, the LGTN2 model of the Guitarron is suitable for beginners. Its design offers a comfortable playing experience, and the strings are easier to press down than on many traditional guitars, making it a great option for those new to string instruments. The Guitarron’s straightforward structure allows beginners to focus on learning chords and strumming techniques without being overwhelmed by complex features. -
Question:
What kind of music can I play with the 6 String Guitarron LGTN2?
Answer: The 6 String Guitarron LGTN2 is primarily designed for traditional Mexican music, particularly mariachi styles. However, its rich tones also work well in various folk, pop, and even fusion genres. Musicians often experiment with the Guitarron in different musical settings, allowing it to blend with instruments like violins and trumpets, showcasing its versatility beyond mere traditional use. -
Question:
How do I care for my Guitarron to maintain its quality?
Answer: To maintain your Guitarron, regularly clean the body with a soft cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. Store it in a case when not in use to protect it from environmental factors. Also, regularly check the strings for wear, as keeping fresh strings will enhance sound quality. Proper care ensures your instrument stays in excellent condition, allowing you to enjoy its beautiful sound for longer. -
Question:
What accessories do I need with the LGTN2 Guitarron?
Answer: When purchasing the LGTN2 Guitarron, consider getting a gig bag for protection, a tuner for accurate sound, and a strap for comfort while playing. You might also want picks suitable for strumming the thick strings. These accessories enhance your playing experience and make it more convenient to transport and maintain your instrument. -
Question:
Can I use the Guitarron with an amplifier?
Answer: While the traditional Guitarron is played acoustically, some models can be fitted with pickups for amplification. If your LGTN2 model supports this feature, using an amplifier can increase its volume for larger performances or intimate settings. This allows you to project your sound clearly, blending with a full band or making your solo performance stand out. -
Question:
What tonal qualities can I expect from the Black Guitarron LGTN2?
Answer: The Black Guitarron LGTN2 produces a warm, rich tone with resonant bass notes. Its construction influences the sound, creating a deep and sharp projection that enhances the traditional mariachi sound. Players often describe the tonal qualities as full-bodied, allowing for both rhythmic support and melodic play, making it perfect for various playing styles. -
Question:
What is the weight of the 6 String Guitarron LGTN2?
Answer: The LGTN2 weighs around 5-6 pounds, making it relatively easy to handle during performances. Despite its larger size compared to a standard guitar, this weight is manageable for most musicians, enabling extended playing sessions without excessive fatigue. Its balance and design keep it comfortable against your body while you play. -

Answer: You can purchase the 6 String Guitarron LGTN2, Black, at Ubuy, which offers a reliable online shopping platform for this instrument in Jamaica. Ubuy provides various options, ensuring that you find the right model to suit your musical needs and preferences. -

Its roots can be traced back to Mexican folk traditions, and it plays a crucial role in creating the vibrant sound that characterizes mariachi ensembles. Understanding this instrument's cultural importance enhances the experience for players and audiences alike.
H. Jimenez Steel-String Acoustics LGTN2 Editorial Review
H. Jimenez 6 String Guitarron (LGTN2), Black offers a unique blend of materials with its spruce top, rosewood back, and mahogany body, but it has faced significant criticism. Many users have highlighted issues regarding the instrument's setup, particularly the low nut and saddle which hinder playability. Educators and experienced players have also noted the guitarron's weight and muted sound, leading to disappointment among mariachi musicians. Given these concerns, it's essential for potential buyers to evaluate their needs carefully before purchasing this guitarron.
