The Empi 3699 Merged Racing Exhaust is a popular exhaust system for Volkswagen Beetles and other Type 1 vehicles. It is made for bigger engine sizes, starting from 1914cc to 2276cc. The exhaust system fits well on the aforementioned engines and can also work on a 1968 Beetle and a 1974 Beetle. The Empi 3699 Merged Racing Exhaust eliminates the heater boxes in the vehicle. The product comes with paper gaskets and only the hardware to install the included stinger. The system can be modified to fit a 1959 Beetle by trimming or removing the lower cylinder tins and removing the thermostat. It is not typically recommended for engines that require less back pressure. Customers have been pleased with the product but recommend purchasing better metal gaskets and exhaust nuts with a smaller outside diameter.
